Structural works

Structural works are the backbone of many renovations—opening up spaces safely, supporting new layouts, and preparing your property for the next stage of construction. We carry out structural alterations across London, coordinating the right design, temporary support, and Building Control sign-off where required.

What we do
  • Load-bearing wall removal and open-plan conversions (typically supported with a steel beam/RSJ or lintel designed for the loads).

  • Steelwork installation: RSJs, goalposts/box frames, posts and padstones as specified by the structural design.

  • New openings and alterations: widening doorways, creating openings for bi-fold/sliding doors, and structural changes for extensions/lofts.

  • Chimney breast and internal structural alterations (subject to engineer design and approvals).

How we keep it safe

Before any structural wall is changed, it must be assessed properly; for more complex work a structural engineer is often needed to design the beam and supporting details. Load-bearing walls can’t be removed or altered without Building Regulations consent, and the structural design is typically submitted to Building Control for approval.

Party wall considerations (London)

If works affect a party wall/structure or involve certain excavations near neighbouring buildings, the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 may apply and you may need to serve notice and follow the process. The Act provides a framework for preventing or resolving disputes relating to party walls and related works.
